Board of Directors Brief Bio’s
Nancy “Spirit” Reuter, has worked with Timbertop since 1992. She has taught in regular and special education for over 30 years. She has a B.S. degree in Exceptional Education, a Master’s in Education, and has a Reading Specialist License. She enjoys wilderness camping, kayaking, theater, and spending time with family.
Pete “Timber” Matthai, has been with Timbertop since 1991. He has served in many roles including: Counselor, Waterfront Director, Assistant Director, and Camp Director. Timber has a B.S. degree from UWSP in Natural Resources – Youth Programming & Camp Management. After a 30-year career in Camping, Youth & Teen Development, and Child Care Administration he is now “relaxing” (lol) as a Sales Consultant with Dahl Honda of Stevens Point.
Adam “Peaches” Mehak, has been involved with Camp since he was just a seedling! He is now a Paramedic as well as the Assistant Chief of the Amherst Fire District. Adam enjoys all things outdoors, has a plethora of kayaks, and is one of the best dancers Camp has ever seen.
Rhoda “Wings” Brooks, (Camp Founder) holds an M.A. in Special Education and has way over 30 years of teaching and administrative experience. She has been in the Peace Corp, taught abroad, taught in a Spanish speaking magnet school, and had more adventures than the rest of the volunteers put together!
Jamie “Penguin” Diestelhorst, joined us first as a Timbertop parent then as a board member in 2024. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor who earned her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. She enjoys crafting, cars, mashed potatoes, the outdoors, and a menagerie of pets.
Tammy “Latte” Koskey, began as Spirit’s right hand, then as a Timbertop parent, and most recently as a board member in 2024. She has been a special education teacher and reading specialist in Mosinee for more years than is polite to ask. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education and a Reading Specialist Certification. She enjoys spending time with family and getting “volun-told” to do activities by Spirit.
Past Board Members:
2021-2024 Tiffany Praeger “Gecko”, has been in a leadership role with Timbertop for 14 years! She has a degree in Camp Management from UW Stevens Point, and over 20 years of Camp and Environmental Education experience. Tiffany’s Timbertop passion stems from our ability to give children and teens who struggle to fit in, a place to feel connected to nature, make friends, learn independence, and to feel confident in who they are!
2021-2023 JB Kotlowski “Magellan”, has been part of the Timbertop Family for over 2 decades. She works as registered nurse in the Stevens Point Area.
2021-2023 Eric Renfert “Bigfoot”, grew up going to summer camp, learning the ropes from “Timber”, “Gecko”, and “Peaches”, who were his counselors as a kid. He first experienced Timbertop as a teen Counselor-In-Training volunteer in 2008, and has been back as a counselor or volunteer almost every year since. Eric loves the break from his day job as a structural engineer, and getting the opportunity to pass on some of the experiences that shaped his favorite childhood memories.
